Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.13.0 update is now in beta and features functioning Redstone Circuits

For those of you who are in the Minecraft: Pocket Edition beta with us, there is some pretty big news as the newest update version (that being 0.13.0) has hit beta status and is now playable for folks in the beta. The big feature with this beta? Full Redstone has been added to the game.

Well we shouldn’t say it is FULL Redstone, but it is pretty close. A lot of Redstone-based features and items are now available in the game but there are a couple not included such as Pistons, at least not just yet. However, there is still a lot available in this beta to play with. For Redstone savvy players, this is what you have access to in the beta: Redstone Wire, Torch, Lamp, Levers, Buttons, Pressure plates, Tripwires, Trapped Chests and Detector Rails.

Besides Redstone, there are a few other confirmed features and tweaks coming in 0.13.0. The big thing is making sure the game doesn’t lag to hell and back when using Redstone in mass quantities. Here’s the full changelog for 0.13.0, at least for right now with the beta. More can be added before it actually gets released.

New Features:

– New wooden doors!
– Cute fluffy crop-eating bunnies

Removed Features

– Stonecutter (RIP)

Tweaks

– How to report a bug
– How to make a backup
– Redstone can be used to control doors, trapdoors, TNT and rails!
– Faster boats with a different handling
– Increased item tooltip visibility time (Windows 10 Edition)
– Stack count labels now use a bigger and more readable font
– Slimes and Ghasts now actually spawn!
– Hunger restored by food items now match PC
– Flowers created by using Bone Meal on Grass now depend on the biome
– Skeletons now run away from Wolves

Some Bug Fixes

– Mobs don’t suffocate in carpets anymore
– Fixed at least as many bugs as we introduced!

Yes the Stonecutter is gone and this is something we’ve all known was on the way. It will now officially go poof in 0.13.0. If you are not a part of the beta and want to join, it only takes a few easy steps. You will need the FULL version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition from Google Play, not the demo. Then you just head over to the Android beta Google+ group for Minecraft: Pocket Edition and opt into the beta. Once joined the latest beta version will download and install onto your Android device and then you are good to go!
