Crying Suns, the FTL-esque tactical roguelike from Humble Games, has just been updated with a number of new features and elements.
The so-called Advanced Tactics update brings new equipment, weapons, squadrons, new auxilliary systems for battleships, new officer abilities, and more.
The latest update also introduces additional neutral units to the game, allowing you to sweep up drifters and enlarge your territory. There’s also a new OMNI Forge to discover in the depths of space, which lets you upgrade your squadrons.
Your enemies has received an upgrade, too, with the game’s AI receiving an overhaul to make your adversaries more aggressive. This will force you to come up with an array of tactics for dealing with them.
Crying Suns is a fun evolution of the blueprint laid down by FTL, with the same pixel-art aesthetic but a richer and more varied gameplay experience. It was well worth downloading even before the update.
