Genshin Impact 3.0 release date revealed with new Sumeru region

The next big expansion for miHoYo’s Genshin Impact is on its way. But just when is the Gensin Impact 3.0 update, and what can we expect to see in the beloved gacha game?

Genshin Impact 3.0 release date

Following on from the Summertime Odyssey update, Genshin Impact 3.0 aims is a huge addition to the game. Titled “The Morn a Thousand Roses”, this update adds a large selection of new content to chew through.

Releasing on August 24th, the new update will add the fourth nation to the game: Sumeru. Additionally, the final of the seven elements is joining the game: Dendro. Essentially, it’s plants.

The region of Sumeru is located just to the west of Liyue. This is where new character of Collei comes from. In its varied biomes, you can explore a dense rainforest and an arid desert.

Furthermore, a handful of new characters join the fray. Three new characters are coming to the gacha system, including Tighnari, Collei, and Dori. Will the gacha gods be kind to you?

Quality of Life improvements

Alongside the addition of a massive new area, and the quests that go with that, there are smaller updates as well. For example, Genshin Impact 3.0 adds new items to reduce the tedium of some activities.

The Boom of the Elder Tree makes collecting wood earlier. An Ultra-Hot Burner Lamp (Test Model) improves cooking. Finally, the Fishing Line Stabiliser will help you catch fish!

With new competitors coming out rather frequently, Genshin’s updates are more important than ever. While it doesn’t look like games like Tower of Fantasy will overtake Genshin, it’s nice to fuel competition.

Even after two years, Genshin’s update cycle is still going strong. Compared to other free-to-play games, miHoYo’s Breath of the Wild clone is updated very regularly. (As a Halo Infinite player, I’m very jealous.)
