Assassin’s Creed: Jade gives us an open-world Ancient China on mobile

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise has seen a rather weird release mobile. While ambitious spin-offs have made their way to phones, real AC games never have. Assassin’s Creed: Jade will change that.

What is Assassin’s Creed: Jade?

Revealed during a recent Ubisoft Forward event, Assassin’s Creed: Jade is a full AC experience on mobile. Set in ancient China, the new game will offer a unique AC experience on phones.

Similar to other open-world games, you’ll create your own assassin to play as. However, this is the first time in the series’ history you’ve ever been able to do so. Isn’t that cool?

“You’ll get the chance to do things like parkour atop the Great Wall of China,” said executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté. “Sneak through bustling cities, engage in intense combat, and discover the secrets and vastness of ancient China.”

Jade will have full touch controls when it releases on mobile. However, we also expect that this game will also benefit from controller support. There’ll probably be a PC ports and console versions if the game is successful.

The future of Ubisoft Mobile

Assassin’s Creed: Jade is only part of Ubisoft’s massive mobile push recently. While its cancelled Far Cry game has sowed doubt, the studio is working hard on multiple mobile titles.

For example, alongside AC, The Division: Resurgence is soon releasing on mobile. Furthermore, Rainbow Six Siege mobile is js quickly approaching.

While these free-to-play titles aren’t as exciting as premium ports of main line console games, it’s still content. Additionally, games like modern Assassin’s Creed and The Division suit themselves perfectly to mobile.

There’s currently no release date for Assassin’s Creed: Jade. However, we expect the game will release next year alongside a console game.
