The Best New Games for Android This Week – Total War: Medieval II, Angry Birds and More

Another week has washed away in the increasingly muddy river of time, leaving us with only our memories and the indistinct signifiers of an imminent future. Oh, and this list of the best games that have come out on Android over the past seven days.

This week we’ve got strategy, magical ducks, egg-stealing pigs and more. Most of the games we’ve picked are premium as well, which is always a nice thing to be able to say – we’ve noted the one that isn’t.

You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the Play Store. And if you’ve got your own favorite new game that hasn’t been included here, make sure you let us know in the comments.

Total War: Medieval II

Feral Interactive leads the charge with another massive strategy game ported to mobile. This one’s all knights and longbows, and it works brilliantly on touchscreen. If you like delving deep into historical violence, it’s well worth checking out.

Rovio Classics: Angry Birds

The original Angry Birds gets a re-release for modern phones. And it’s every bit as entertaining and challenging as it ever was. Sure, it might be a blast from the past, but in a lot of ways the past was way better than right now.

Fatal Fury 2 ACA NeoGeo

Another classic SNK scrapper makes its way into the ACA NeoGeo collection. If you’re a fan of old-school punching and kicking then this one is really a no-brainer. Throw in desperation moves and two-plane fighting and you’re on to a winner.

M.Duck

A slightly weird gallery-shooting roguelite that features a magical duck. That’s the sort of sentence that should make you excited to give a game a go. There’s shooting, there’s dodging, there’s relics to collect and loads of enemies to fight.

Maximus 2

A crunching, gorgeous brawler that sees you hacking your way through vast numbers of foes. It’s got four player co-op, special modes and loads more. There’s a meatiness to the game that echoes the classics, and it’s a load of fun too. It’s free with IAPs, but you can unlock everything in the game by playing.
