Grow A Garden Pets – What Can We Expect In The Animal Update?

Update 3/5/2025: The Animal Update Is Here!
The update just dropped! Here’s a brief rundown of the content!
- Animals! 20 different kinds in all. We’ve currently confirmed the following pets:
- Panda (Available for free, but only in the first hour after the update! Hurry!)
- Dog
- Golden Lab
- Bunny
- Egg Seller
- Appears in place of the Quest Giver in new servers. If he’s not appearing, try a different server or make a free private server, that’s how we found him!
- Eggs refresh every four hours.
- Different colour eggs determine likelihood of rarer pets.
- Pepper Crop
- Faster Walk Speed
When Does The Update Arrive?
The Animal Update is expected to drop on May the 3rd, so this Saturday! That does mean that any claims you can unlock animals before then probably aren’t true.
What Can We Expect?
The Animal Update means… animals! The features aren’t implemented yet, but we’ve got a reasonable idea about what it might involve from this quote from one of the Grow A Garden devs on the official Discord.
“You place an egg in your garden and wait for it to hatch, when a pet hatches, it can be a different size – like plants. Pets start at Age 0, feeding the pet daily, and increasing its age overtime. Once a pet is hungry they stop growing.
Pets roam around your garden- each pet will have a unique trait, for example Bee’s may pollinate your fruit with a Pollination Mutation, or a bird may consume a fruit at random and poop out its seed an hour later. Another example, could be a worm, helps fertilize your soil so plants grow faster. (none of these are final, and subject to change).
Some pets may have synergies, and compositions that help you get even more rare fruits and mutations, that only that set of pets can create. For example one bee might pollinate a flower, while another bee turns pollinated flowers into honey.”
