Grow a Garden Weather Events Guide

Let’s get right into it!

Normal Weather

The average forecast.

Rain

During Rain, all crops grow 50% quicker and will harvest with the wet mutation. As with all mutations, this increases the base selling value of the crop. When wet, the produce will drip blue rain droplets.

When Rain begins, I recommend staying in your garden and spamming the collect button as you run around. During this short window, you’ll yield more crops thanks to the increased growth speed, all of which will have the wet mutation.

At the end of the event, take a trip to the merchant and then sell off your bulk. Hopefully, you won’t miss any shop restocks within this timeframe. This event is a great way to make fast money, but it’s equally fleeting, only lasting a minute or two.

Thunderstorm

Lightning happens infrequently compared to Rain. When the skies begin to grey, this event may strike your produce, increasing its value with the Shocked mutation. At the same time, all produce grows 50% faster, and may also become Wet from the storm.

Frost

During Frost, the player shakes to show just how cold it is. As with other events, Frost increases the growth speed of crops. Some crops will adopt the Chilled (x2) mutation during this event, or if the plant is wet, then they’ll turn Frozen (x10).

Nighttime – Lunar Glow

Every hour, the nighttime event begins, which has the chance to produce Moonlit (x2). During this 10-minute-long event, at least 6 crops will adopt this mutation, but you can influence more if you use a Night Staff from the Lunar Glow event rewards.

Blood Moon – Lunar Glow

An extension of the Lunar Glow event is the Blood Moon, which has a 33% chance to happen when the Night event triggers. During this, the sky will turn a deep red, and a Blood Moon shop will appear with the Owls. Crops have the chance to turn Bloodlit, which applies an x4 value.

Meteor Shower

Similar to the thunderstorms but less frequent. Meteors have a chance to strike plants, applying the Celestial mutation (x120 value). The Star Caller will redirect meteors to your crops during this shower.

Windy

During Windy, the lobby appears with a whiteish tint, whilst particles whip around the map. Crops affected will gain the Windstruck Mutation (2x Value).

Gale

Gale works similarly to Windy, but much stronger chance to apply the Windstruck Mutation (2x Value).

Tornado

A Tornado will spawn and move between gardens, leaving the Twisted Mutation (5x Value) on any plant it comes into contact with.

Aurora Borealis

The sky shines brightly with the vibrant colours of an Aurora Borealis, and plants have an increased growth speed of 50% and have the chance to develop the Aurora Mutation (90x Value).

Tropical Rain

The sky turns green and a rainstorm begins. Crops experience a 50% growth speed and may adopt the Drenched Mutation (5x Value).

Drought

During a Drought, plants may gain the Wiltproof Mutation.

Event Weather

Typically related to an ongoing or previous event.

Bee Swarm

The sky turns yellow, and Bees will leave their hive, travel to different gardens and pollinate random plants. This event happens hourly on the hour, part of the limited Bizzy Bees event. Players can exchange Pollinated fruit for Honey, to use in a limited shop found at the centre of the main island.

Pollinated fruits increase in value by x3.

Working Bee Swarm

Similar to the Bee Swarm, except the bees have a higher chance of pollinating (creating more pollinated crops), and crafting time is enhanced by 10%!

Sungod

This extremely rare event depicts the DEV, Jandel, standing tall behind the cosmetic shop as the sky turns bright yellow. Plants have the chance to adopt the Dawnbound Mutation (x150 value), which causes them to turn white and develop sun-like spikes.

Sandstorm

Sand will spew around the map, occasionally applying the Sandy Mutation (3x Value) to crops. Sandy combines with Sundried and Burnt to create Ceramic. Or, can combine with Wet to create Clay (3x Value).

Mega Harvest

During a Mega Harvest, the lobby song speeds up and the player gains 2x Harvest Points and plant growth speed.

Heatwave

The sun will appear bigger and brighter, occasionally firing heat beams at crops, applying the Sundried Mutation.

When To Expect More Weather Events

And that’s it! For now, at least… The DEVS on the Grow a Garden Discord are open to ideas for future events, such as nighttime, stormy weather, seasonal changes, and more. You can keep up with ideas and how they’d influence the game over in the Discord Channel.

Likewise, if you have ideas on how to improve the game, you can share them there! Or, show off your highest profit wet crops to other farmers.

If you want to keep up to date on all events when more are added, I recommend bookmarking this page and checking back post-update.
