Runes aren’t much of an issue, but most games are difficult to complete if you also want to get the key. Fortunately, my guide tells you how to get the Rune and Key in Build a Zoo, the easiest game to complete during the Halloween Spotlight event.

How To Get The Rune and Key in Build a Zoo
- Rune: Collect 20 Candies
- Key: Collect 45 Candies
How To Earn Candies
After loading in, select the Candy Event tab and check out the three daily tasks. These quests often include:
- Purchase x1 Halloween Mutation egg for x12 Candies
- Hatch 5 Halloween Mutation eggs for x12 Candies
- Stay online for 20 minutes for x10 Candies
- Repeatable 3 times per task refresh (x30 Candies total per day)
Whilst completing the other tasks, you’ll passively earn x30 Candies from the stay online for 20 minutes task. With this in mind, earning both Rune and Key should take around an hour.
Getting a Head Start
If you’re a new player, affording the new Halloween mutated eggs isn’t easy, so I recommend redeeming the following codes to get some cash and eggs to help you out:

Some codes will also award you with Hatch Potions, which decrease the time needed for an egg to incubate before hatching. Be sure to consume one before placing your new eggs to speed up the grind.

Back To The Candy Quests
After this, check out the weather tab at the bottom. It tells you the current cycle and the following weather. When it’s Halloween, watch your conveyor belt for Halloween mutated eggs. Ideally, you want to buy the cheaper ones to save both money and time, as they take less time to hatch.
Hopefully, before the hour is up, you’ll have experienced a few Halloween events and obtained x5 Halloween Eggs to hatch. The first Halloween egg you buy will also complete the purchase quest for x12 Candies.
In total, after an hour, you should have earned x54 Candies, completing both the Rune and Key challenges easily.
