Monster Hunter Now Soft Ban – Does it Exist?

Monster Hunter Now monster.

Been hunting a ton of monsters and are struggling to find rare materials? You would be forgiven for assuming that a Monster Hunter Now soft ban exists, but does it? Well, in this guide I’m going to answer that question, as well as detail what a soft ban is for those that don’t know. I’ll also update this guide if anything changes, including Niantic confirming the feature, or if it improves.

Monster Hunter Now is a location-based game by Niantic, the makers of Pokémon Go. You wander around the real world, battling monsters on your phone. You then loot them for materials, which you can turn into more powerful weapons and armour. If you have friends, you can invite them along for the ride too.

Grab Monster Hunter Now on Google Play. I’ve also put together Monster Hunter Now empty map, Monster Hunter Now HP regen, and Monster Hunter Now friend codes guides.

Monster Hunter Now Soft Ban

Now, let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the Monster Hunter Now soft ban, including whether it exists and what it is.

What’s a Soft Ban?

If you have ever played a game with RNG (random number generator) mechanics, where you have a percentage chance of getting a specific character or item, you will likely have encountered periods where you get loads of stuff, or no stuff.

RNG mechanics should be random, which is what explains this sudden influx of items or a lack thereof. Some players, however, believe that a soft ban is the reason why your luck has suddenly changed.

In essence, a soft ban is when a developer creates a mechanic in a game with RNG that reduces the rewards you receive after a period of time, or after you have had a sudden influx. As the name suggests, it doesn’t entirely remove your ability to collect this item, but drastically reduces your chances.

Does Monster Hunter Now Include a Soft Ban?

Only Niantic can truly answer this question, as there’s no way to tell from a player’s perspective whether a soft ban is in place. However, I would argue that, no, Monster Hunter Now does not include a soft ban.

If your luck has taken a downturn, it’s more likely to be an unfortunate side effect of RNG. Sometimes it showers you with gifts, other times it takes them away. This is the nature of RNG.

How Can I Get More Rare Materials?

The only current method to increase your chances of getting rare materials is to use Gems at the end of a battle to increase the number of rewards you get for defeating a monster.

Well, that and going on a monster hunting rampage. If you’re looking for a specific monster, you can check out their hunting grounds on your map. All monsters have a specific symbol, which is like a cave drawing of their forms, and you can head there physically to defeat them.

If you want to face monsters of a specific star rating, make sure to walk towards the ones who have that star above their head.
