While there are a fair number of Amiga emulators on Android already, using them can be a bit of a pain. This is especially true if you’re not technically fluent in running an emulator aside from loading up a game. The Amiga emulators generally provide a bit more of a challenge since most of the ones available do not come with their own file system. This means you have to provide one yourself, so if you aren’t that experienced with an emulator of this nature, you were kind of left out in the dark.
Amiga Forever Essentials aims to change this so you won’t have to worry about providing all of these files yourself. Developed by Cloanto, this app provides you with all the officially licensed ROM and OS files that you would need to properly run the Amiga emulator. The developers of Amiga Forever Essentials collaborated with the developers of some of the more popular Amiga emulators out there such as the UAE4Droid, AnUAE4All and UAE4All2 to make sure that they would auto-detect the appropriate files needed to run one of those emulators.
This app doesn’t provide you with an Amiga emulator itself though, so you will still need to grab one of the compatible Amiga emulators off of Google Play and install that as well. Still, for the convenience of not having to worry about installing the ROM and OS files yourself, this is a handy little application to have on your Android device. As a bonus, Amiga Forever Essentials also comes with a few extra tools like Workbench 1.3 and the First Demos disk images to help you get things moving faster.
Cloanto also mentions that this is just he first in what will be a series of ‘Essentials’ packages. So we should expect to see similar packages arriving in the near future for other emulators that require this sort of extra work to run.
