After a long time, Brave Frontier fans have a new battlefield to conquer. It’s Brave Frontier Versus, which has officially launched worldwide on Android. But instead of being a traditional turn-based RPG, it’s now faster and more tactical.
Brave Frontier started off as a mobile RPG and was first released in Japan in 2013. Developed and published by A-Lim, it was later released worldwide by Gumi, but shut down in 2022. A global-exclusive sequel, Brave Frontier: The Last Summoner, was released in 2018.
What’s the gameplay like in Brave Frontier Versus?
You build decks with recognisable heroes from the original Brave Frontier universe. You then face off on a strategic map where each move counts. The game is now closer to a digital card battle with all the layered decision-making and risk-taking.
Battles last just five turns, and you don’t have to wait endlessly for your opponent’s move. You can deploy multiple units on your first turn. You get up to six units active at once, and cards reviving each round.
Deck-building in the game is simplified. You only need character cards to assemble a team. It definitely makes it easy for newbies. Or you can fine-tune your decks to craft the perfect synergy for each encounter.
Of course, no Brave Frontier title would be complete without its signature Brave Bursts. The flashy, game-changing special attacks can flip a battle just like that. Now, they return as part of the new Manifestation Card system. Drawn on the third and fifth turns, these cards come with enhanced stats and devastating skills.
To mark the global launch, the game is running a Warm Welcome event. If you log in now, you can grab a bonus of 2,000 gems right away. There are also special missions offering even more rewards, and a limited-time shop with early deals. So, check the game out on the Google Play Store.
