Originally released onto iOS, Crossy Roads is a humor-filled Frogger style of game which will finally be making its way to Android over the course of the next month and a half. It will first be released onto Android through Amazon’s AppStore this month and then the Google Play release will happen in January 2015.
[UPDATE] December 15th, 6:49 AM PST: A little sooner than expected, the highly-praised Frogger type game Crossy Road, is now available to download in the Amazon App Store. We expected this title a little later in the month, but it is available to download now for free in the Amazon App Store. This is good news because, it might mean that the Google Play Store edition might arrive early too. We will let you know if that is the case. For those of you not familiar with Crossy Roads, this is a blocky visual filled Frogger style game where you have to guide various types of animals across busy roads, fast moving rivers and so on. Unlike Frogger though, some stages have way more than four lanes of whatever to cross. There’s also plenty of humor involved in this game such as when a duck hits the side of a car, it ‘splats’ onto the side of it. Actually most animals will do that and unfortunately it’s pretty entertaining which really makes it hard to want to get to the other side of everything safely.
Depending on your animal, there are other hazards you have to watch out for such as a giant bald eagle swooping down to snatch you up and fly away with you before making you its next meal. There are plenty of characters to collect and play as and when we mentioned stages earlier in this article, we mean the one endless stage that there is, although it is randomly generated each time you play it.
Crossy Roads will be landing on Amazon’s Appstore December 28th, 2014 and it will be the full Android version, not a Kindle version of the game. The Google Play version will land on January 8th, 2015. You can see the game in action in the trailer below.
