Down the Mountain: A Refreshingly Fun Arcade Game Now Available for Android

Game publishers Mudloop and game creators Umbrella Games, have recently released Down the Mountain in the Google Play Store. It is full of character, fun and lots of hopping. If you enjoyed playing Q-Bert, or Mountain Goat Mountain, you will love Down the Mountain.

I recently completed a review of Zynga’s game Mountain Goat Mountain.  It is a lot of fun to play and the graphics are pretty amazing. It was more of a reverse Q-Bert in game mechanics. You hopped up the mountain with your goat as opposed to hopping down the mountain. In Down the Mountain, your main character  hops down the mountain, similar to Q-Bert. The game is also closer in art style to Q-Bert than in Mountain Goat Mountain. However, the game looks great, plays great and is a lot of fun. It is one of those games that the whole family can easily play and enjoy for quite some time.

Mudloop has released two other games for Android. They are Boom Dots and Ninja Cubes. In collaboration with Umbrella Games, Down the Mountain finds them really hitting their stride, and creating a really adorable game. You have many characters  that you can unlock. As you attempt to get down the mountain, you have a slew of obstacles in your way. You will encounter roads with cars continuing up and down their path, quicksand, TNT, waterfalls, hot lava, and a myriad of other obstacles. As you descend, you grab stars along the way. Gathering stars allows you to unlock other characters. If you have played Crossy Road before or many of the games that have followed in its vein, you will know how this all works.

Controlling your character is very easy. All you have to do is tap left or right to get your character to move in that direction. The controls are very responsive and make it easy to move rapidly down the mountain.

Down the Mountain Features:

  • Beautiful graphics
  • Simple yet challenging game play
  • 60 unlockable characters
  • 200 missions to complete
  • Win prizes with the prize wheel

Down the Mountain is integrated with Google Game Play Services and their are 78 achievements to unlock. The game is free-to-play and does include in-app purchases. No need to moan about that though, because the only in-app purchase is to remove ads, and that will only cost you $.99 The additional characters are unlocked by using the stars you collect, or by using the prize wheel, which gives you the opportunity to win stars, or unlock other characters. Yes, this is free-to-play done right, and you shouldn’t avoid the game for fear of excessive grinding or unfair pay walls. Umbrella Games and Mudloop have created a fun arcade game that shouldn’t be missed.
