Rogue Wizards launches on Kickstarter, Praised by Diablo, Torchlight, Left 4 Dead, and Marvel Heroes Creators

We haven’t talked about a game going to Kickstarter for funding in awhile but today a new title is looking for funding and it looks very promising. Rogue Wizards RPG is the game and it is being developer by Spellbind Studios. This is their first game that will also be released onto multiple platforms (Android, iOS, PC) but the biggest aspect about this Kickstarter campaign is that it has praise from some seriously big people in the game industry: the creators of Diablo, Torchlight, Left 4 Dead, and Marvel Heroes.

The game itself is actually a hybrid of game mechanics ranging from dungeon crawling to RPG and even city building. To round it all off, everything in rogue-like which means it will be different each time you play it, adding to the title’s replay value greatly. In Rogue Wizards, players will be  battling creatures, collecting loot, mastering magic, and building a Wizard Tower as their base. At its core, the dungeon crawling aspect is the most important, especially in the replay value, since everything is procedurally generated in terms of its environment and loot.

Rogue Wizards is a game that I’ve dreamed of creating for a long time. With the help of a team of seasoned games industry professionals who have worked on successful titles and series such as Diablo 3, Marvel Heroes, Command & Conquer, Might and Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic, and Mechwarrior Mercenaries, to help me see through my passion, I’m confident that we will deliver to fans a memorable and rich experience they will enjoy for years to come. – Spellbind Studios Founder Colin Day

The goal in this game is to uncover the mystery behind a series of portals appearing in the world. Since this is the main story arc, we don’t know what they are for or why they are appearing. The combat in Rogue Wizards is based on the tradition turn-based combat that you’re used to in most of the popular RPG series out already. The big difference though is that the pace of combat is much faster. So even though it is turn-based, you have to be quick and paying attention.

For additional details you can check out the official website for Rogue Wizards as well as its Kickstarter page. Impressively, such an undertaking is only looking for $70,000 in funding.
