Golden Lap has finally come to mobile, with publisher Noodlecake publishing the racing management sim. Originally released on PC in September 2024, it’s made by developer Funselektor Labs alongside Strelka Games.

Golden Lap is a tiny-circles management sim about tyres and death

Golden Lap has a minimalist presentation and an interface that only shows the information you actually need. Everything takes place during the Golden Era of open-wheel racing, where you’re put in charge as the head of a racing team.

Every season is another chance to build a legacy. That includes dragging an underperforming back-marker team into championship contention or keeping an already dominant dynasty on top. Your budget has to cover drivers, support staff, sponsorships, and car development, and every decision has consequences both on and off the track.

Every driver, head engineer, and crew chief comes with personality traits that can change how the entire season plays out. A wealthy driver might seem like the perfect signing because they bring extra money into the team. But then, they might turn into a party animal who arrives exhausted on race day and throws away your title hopes.

Meanwhile, a head engineer with an awful attitude could still be worth keeping around if they’re brilliant enough to squeeze more performance out of the car. Figuring out which strengths are worth putting up with is part of the Golden Lap challenge.

Race weekends ask you to make important calls without drowning you in micromanagement. Practice sessions mix planning with a bit of luck by letting you spend limited mechanic points on setup ranges. Tyre strategy matters throughout a race, while driver instructions give you influence over what’s happening without making you feel like you’re controlling the car every second.

Basically, Golden Lap leans into the unpredictability of classic motorsport. Now available on the Google Play Store, you can try the opening section for free before unlocking the full game through a one-time in-app purchase. There are no ads, either.
