Google’s Best Of 2014 Editor Picks are up and there are some interesting games selected

At the end of every year everyone picks their Best Of or Game Of The Year selections. Websites do it, Google does it with their Play Store, Apple with iTunes, and so on. Google’s Best Of 2014 Editor Picks is up and we finally got a moment to sift through it to see what games they picked for this list. There are some interesting selections on there to say the least.

First off lets look at the list in general. Here are all the games Google picked to include in this Best Of 2014 list:

– Botanicula by Amanita Designs
– Machinarium by Amanita Designs
– Boom Beach by Supercell
– FIFA 15 Ultimate Team by EA
– God of Light by Playmous
– Just Dance Now by Ubisoft
– Monster Legends by SocialPoint
– My Talking Tom by outfit7
– Angry Birds Epic by Rovio
– Monument Valley by ustwo
– Star Wars Commander by Disney
– Candy Crush Soda Saga by King
– Summoner Wars by Com2Us

While about half this list we agree with, the other half we are pretty much sitting here scratching our heads going WTF in regards to how this particular game or that one managed to get onto this list. For example Candy Cruch Soda Saga by King is really nothing more than a re-skinned version of their original Candy Crush game and that isn’t much more than a glorified match-3 puzzler. Star Wars Commander by Disney only came out recently and while that is fine, the game is pretty much average at best.

Monument Valley by ustwo is well deserving of their spot on this list as is God of Light by Playmous which is a fantastic puzzler to say the least. It’s also good to see Amanita Designs’ two major titles (Botanicula and Machinarium) on this list as well.

We aren’t trying to put down some of the titles on this list by pointing them out as curious selections by Google. However we do thing there are far more deserving titles that should be there instead. Congratulation to all the games on that list either way. Also don’t forget to submit your selections for our Game of the Year awards and possibly win some prizes while participating.
