Gwent: Rogue Mage, a single-player Witcher mobile game, is out today

The Witcher developer CD Projekt RED has increased its sneak skills to maximum. In a huge surprise, the Polish RPG studio has released Gwent: Rogue Mage, a single-player adventure on mobile and PC.

What is Gwent: Rogue Mage?

Gwent: Rogue Mage is a huge expansion for the original free-to-play card game. However, it is also a standalone adventure complete with a new narrative to enjoy.

CD Projekt RED announced in an interview with IGN that the game has been in development for three years. The title was created due to players wanting more than just PvP from the card game.

“There are a significant number of players who want a more PvE experience from Gwent,” said Vladimir Tortsov, the game’s director. “While Gwent multiplayer is a fantastic game… we perfectly understand that many Witcher players loved the original mini-game of Gwent for totally different reasons. With Rogue Mage we aim to give this audience a reason to play modern-day Gwent in the format they prefer.”

As such, this game is a new roguelike experience that will let you experience the game over and over in new ways. You’ll start with around a dozen cards and explore the world to build up your deck.

Rogue Mage is a sizeable experience for fans of the original game. CD Projekt claim it’ll take around 30 hours to complete! Can you beat that time?

Phwoar, you beauty!

How much is Gwent: Rogue Mage?

Unlike the original game, Gwent: Rogue Mage is a premium experience. No more free-to-play gubbins here! Instead, you’ll have to fork over $9.99 for the game’s standard edition.

Additionally, there’s a more expensive option available for those who love the original multiplayer game. The Premium Edition is $19.99 and it comes with a number of skins, cosmetics, and card packs for the multiplayer game.

Rogue Mage has been made without the need for any microtransactions. Of course, that’s because Gwent proper is still bringing those in.

The new Witcher game will release later today on Android. It will also be available on PC and iOS.
