The next update of Honkai Star Rail is bringing in a set of changes that will really shift how you engage with the story and the characters of the game. Dialogue Skip and Story Summary are the new tools that Version 3.4 is bringing to Honkai Star Rail. Keep reading to get the full scoop.
So, in the recent Developer Radio update, the devs announced the upcoming changes. Both Dialogue Skip and Story Summary in Honkai Star Rail are for those who prefer getting to gameplay faster. Or if you’ve had enough of the game’s pacing issues.
The skip function breaks conversations into individual paragraphs so you can jump past them in chunks instead of sitting through full scenes. Skipping will also show a summary of what was missed, including key characters and events. So, you can still keep up with the plot even if you fast-forward through it.
However, this feature won’t apply to cutscenes or open-world exploration dialogue. For now, Story Summary will cover Amphoreus, Jarilo-VI, and Herta Space Station, with other regions being added later in Version 3.6.
Well, if you play the game, you know that it’s common to spend over 30 hours reading everything in areas like Amphoreus. That, too, later, you feel like the story could have been told in a quarter of that time with better delivery.
What I’m trying to say is that the addition of the skip function might not improve narrative quality. We all know how the game has turned out lately. Yep, I’m being brutally honest here.
What Else Is Coming?
In a later update, Version 3.6 will also include a Story Recap feature. It will let you re-experience completed Trailblaze Missions, Trailblaze Continuances, and Companion Missions with optional dialogue choices.
You’ll even be able to replay cinematics. What won’t be possible is rewinding combat or exploration, so it’s focused strictly on the narrative side. One potential advantage here is that you get another chance to revisit unvoiced dialogues that were a result of work refusal situations.
