Ice Water Games is developing Viridi, a game to grow a digital potted plant

The concept of a game where you grow a digital potted plant may seem a bit dry at first but Viridi seems to have some sort of strange quality about it already that will probably draw a lot of people in to play it. This game, developed by Ice Water Games, lets players grow a digital potted plant in real time.

If you think about it, this is sort of like a virtual pet game but without the need to pet, play, or generally entertain a digital pet. The whole game is render in what looks like a low-poly style of 3D. Of course this could change since the game is still in development but we hope it doesn’t. The visuals have a nice appeal to it.

According to the developers, the goal of this game is to “provide a moment of peace and quiet that you can pull out of your pocket whenever you want and/or need it.” As it stands right now it looks like they are on track to accomplish this.

As for when this zen-like relaxing game will come out, right now it is simply labeled as “coming soon” to not just mobile but PC and Mac as well. In the meantime, you can check out a development preview video of Viridi above.
