A lot of people have had their eyes on Mad Catz who have promised to build the most powerful Android-based console that would be available when it launches. While the company has been tight lipped over the specs of the console, we did get some hands-on time with a prototype version with prototype hardware during the GameStop Expo this year.
The main rumors circulating this console is whether the company would go Snapdragons or Tegra 4, with most people guessing Tegra 4 being what Mad Catz would choose and guess what, that is exactly what will be powering the Mojo console, a 1.8GHz Tegra 4 chipset. Other hardware includes 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, HDMI-out with full 1080p, Bluetooth, MicroSD Card slot that includes support for SDXC Cards (up to 128GB), WiFi and will be running stock Android 4.2.2. As we announced during our hands-on, you’ll also be able to hardline your internet right into the console as well.
The console will also come with one of their competition wireless controllers named the C.T.L.R R which will have a ‘Mouse Mode’ to address games with touch-based controls. We were exclusively told that a companion application is under development to allow you to tweak the console’s settings. The console will also be compatible with all of Mad Catz GameSmart technology which includes their R.A.T. mice and S.T.R.I.K.E Keyboards.
Google Play and Tegra Zone will also come pre-installed onto the Mojo console but you will also have access to Amazon’s AppStore and any other third-party store you want. As for a release date, Mad Catz is looking to have their Mojo Android console available December 10th, 2013 and will retail for $249.
