Magic The Gathering is getting its own Puzzle Quest spin-off soon

The developers behind the rather successful Puzzle-RPG franchise Puzzle Quest has announced that they are teaming up with another company for another spin-off. Recently Adventure Time Puzzle Quest landed on Google Play and now D3 Go! is teaming up with Wizards of the Coast for a Magic The Gathering themed Puzzle Quest game.

Appropriately names Magic The Gathering – Puzzle Quest, players will see all the gameplay and mechanics that made Puzzle Quest a success being meshed together with the strategic gameplay, great art, and expansive lore that comes with Magic The Gathering. This does make it sounds like the companies are hinting at possible gameplay tweaks that could make their way into this particular spin-off.

Players will be battling it out with rival  Planeswalkers and monsters all while collecting additional creatures, spells, and artifacts, all of which are from Magic The Gathering. Outside of the actual storyline/campaign mode, you will also be able to participate in quests, daily events and tournaments for more rewards.

Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest is the ideal marriage of the deep lore and strategic elements of Wizards of the Coasts’ iconic series, along with the gripping match-3 gameplay of one of the most popular puzzle game series in history. From the competitive tournaments, to the intense in-game battles, Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest perfectly encapsulates the strongest elements of both franchises to create something compellingly new, yet perfectly intuitive to Magic fans and puzzle gamers alike. – Peter Andrew, vice president of publishing, D3 Go!

Right now D3 Go! has only announced plans to show the game off at PAX Prime 2015 later this week. As for the game’s actual launch, no word on that just yet. However we do have the first images available to check out for Magic The Gathering – Puzzle Quest. We will post an update once more details are available.
