I’m Toad-lly devastated – Mario Kart Tour Enters Maintenance Mode on October 4th

Feature imagine for our news article about Mario Kart Tour updates ending. Imagine shows a Toad and a Toadette driving.

Mario Kart Tour has been hit with a blue shell with Nintendo announcing there will be no more updates on Mario Kart Tour from October 4th. The game can still be played, however content will be reused and there will be no more courses, karts, or characters to unlock. You can download and play Mario Kart Tour here on Google Play.

The game launched in September 2019, and quickly become one of Nintendo’s most popular mobile games. However, as some of Mario Kart Tour’s tracks have also been developed into Mario Kart 8’s Booster Pass on the Switch (with the latest tracks planned to be launched by the end of 2023) – it makes sense that both games are finishing up content wise. With Charles Martinet also retiring as the voice of Mario (and others), it really feels like a shift in Nintendo. But don’t worry, I’m here to up your spirits with some good news!

There Are Still Nintendo Mobile Games!

Nintendo has a handful of mobile games, some of which have already been shut down. However, there is still Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and Fire Emblem Heroes. These games are still being updated and will also give you points to spend in the Nintendo shop or for items in the game. Super Mario Run has weekends dedicated to certain characters, so you can win items in the shape of your favourite character to add to your castle!

New Games For You To Toad-lly Enjoy

Mario Wonder has a planned release date of the 20th October 2023. Although this will be on the Switch and not on mobile, it is still a brand new Nintendo game to enjoy. With new power ups and different characters to play as, you’ll still be able to get your Mario fix! Super Mario RPG is also planned to release on November 17th. Again, it will be on the Switch, however it’s a brand new RPG with turn-based combat for you to enjoy. Nintendo has also announced a bunch of other games, so make sure to keep up to date with any Nintendo Directs when they come out!
