After Meteorfall: Journeys in 2017 and Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale in 2019, indie developer Slothwerks has dropped the third game in the series. It’s Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble. The stakes this time are nothing less than the Mask of the Uberlich.
Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble has a few returning characters but the mechanics are entirely new
You build a team of three heroes from a lineup of eight. You then throw them into short, intense battles where cards, combos, and spectacle rule the day.
The story kicks off with Bramble, a down-on-his-luck arena owner. He lost everything during a drunken gamble in some shady Meteorfall saloon.
Wandering the wastelands the next morning, he discovers the infamous Mask of the Uberlich and hatches a scheme. Host a brutal new tournament, draw in hungry fighters and loaded fans, and rebuild his empire from the ground up.
And thus begins the Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble, where victory doesn’t come from fairness. It comes from flash, fanfare, and ruthless tactics!
You play cards, direct allies, and manipulate the outcome with Wild Cards. There are special rule-bending effects. You get more than 200 cards and the ability to stack multiple upgrades on a single card.
Outside the arena, you can spend time in Bramble Town
It’s the only break you get between fights, offering upgrades, and training. But you won’t have time to do everything. Picking the right vendors is a strategic decision in itself, and poor choices can catch up with you fast.
Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble is built for short sessions. Most runs clock in at 45 minutes or less, which is rare for the genre.
The tone is as ridiculous as ever. You’ll face off against absurd opponents like nuke-addled snotwolves and sozzled bearbearians. But the absurdity is what gives this roguelike its charm.
Originally announced as Bramble Royale, the game underwent a rebranding before pre-registrations. You can check it out on the Google Play Store. It’s priced at $6.99.
