Morikomori Life is now officially out on Android and iOS, but only in Japan. It’s getting published by Realfun Studio this time. Actually, the game was released in China by Level Infinite under Tencent Games. But the Chinese version was later taken down about a year ago.
The Rural Farm Life Sim Is Back
The best part of the game is its visuals. The devs have successfully brought the cosy vibes to life through some anime-inspired art. Or more specifically, Ghibli-style art. And not the recent Chat-GPT-type of art. The scenes actually look like they have been screen-grabbed from a Studio Ghibli animated movie.
Coming to the story, you play as Kaon, a young Japanese girl. One day, she receives a mysterious letter from her grandma who asks her to visit her in the village. So, she heads back to Komori, the village where she spent her childhood.
From there, you just go about rediscovering what it means to live a peaceful life. Komori’s 3D toon shading makes the Japanese landscapes feel warm and almost like the real-life countryside.
I’m not exaggerating, in case you’re thinking that I am. Take a look at a couple of Morikomori Life trailers right here and see for yourself!
Morikomori Life Lets You Experience Slow-Paced Living
The game is centred around slice-of-life stuff. You’ll be farming, cooking, fishing, hunting, and even building your own house. You can chop wood, mine for ore, and find rare materials while exploring.
As you collect resources, you unlock new ways to upgrade your house and expand your lifestyle. You can dress Kaon up however you like and meet new friends in the village. Make meals from ingredients you foraged and help out villagers with odd jobs.
Morikomori Life lets you customise your character to reflect your own personality. There’s also an open-world element that gives you freedom to wander around and stumble upon all kinds of small surprises.
It’s out on Android in Japan. If you’re in the region, you can check it out on the Google Play Store. There’s no word yet whether there will be a global version coming soon.
