Mattel Digital Studios has published a new game on mobile, giving a popular meme a game avatar. It’s MOTU Skeletor: Until Next Time, and the name is probably enough to let you know which memes I’m referring to. Yes, it takes inspiration from the popular Skeletor meme.

Originally known as Keldor, Skeletor is the primary antagonist of the Masters of the Universe franchise and the longtime archenemy of He-Man. The blue-skinned sorcerer, with his skull-like face, commands an army of evil warriors from Snake Mountain.

MOTU Skeletor: Until Next Time! is an endless runner. As the skull-faced villain, you tear through Snake Mountain and across Eternia. You collect coins, avoid dangers, and use evil powers to stay ahead of He-Man’s allies.

You dash forward, jump over traps, dodge hazards, and navigate increasingly difficult paths. Success totally depends on timing, focus, and quick decision-making. As the run continues, hazards become more and more aggressive.

You can activate special abilities, summon Panthor, and unleash villain-themed powers while advancing. Also, you can unlock several familiar characters from the franchise. Heroes and villains, including Man-At-Arms and Evil-Lyn appear as collectible characters.

Visually, the game mixes retro and modern mechanics. Locations such as Snake Mountain, lava caverns, and other legendary strongholds from Masters of the Universe are recreated with colourful, fast-moving environments.

Mattel has also built seasonal content for the game. Each new season will introduce unique gameplay elements, additional collectibles, and fresh content. You can also improve and upgrade your Snake Mountain lair while chasing higher scores.

MOTU Skeletor: Until Next Time! is now available on the Google Play Store. Its release comes just ahead of the debut of the Masters of the Universe film.
