Does the idea of NieR: Automata Android gameplay, the full experience on your phone, fill you with excitement? Well, with the wonders of emulation technology, it’s now completely possible, provided your device can handle the load.

Several posts on the Android Emulation subreddit by the user Commercial_Ad_3489 have shown us Yoko Taro’s masterpiece running at an impressive steady 60FPS.

Skyline And RedMagic, The Iconic Duo

This gameplay comes from the Switch emulator, Skyline. The Switch version of the game released quite recently, in late 2022, so progress has been pretty swift to get a playable version on Android.

Of course, technically functional emulation is one thing, but you do need the hardware to back it up. The screenshots and video footage were taken using the beefy capabilities of the RedMagic 7s Pro. The average device might have a little more trouble hitting those framerates.

NieR: Automata is an action RPG that first hit the market back in 2017. It follows the story of several androids, the humanoid robot kind, rather than the operating system kind. An absent humanity created the androids to wipe out the scourge of alien machines that took over planet earth many years previously.

A Beautiful And Quirky ARPG

As with most titles from the mind of Yoko Taro though, not everything is as it seems, and the story takes a lot of twists and turns as you go.

You play through a mix of exploration in a desolate open world, and intense combat that blends melee, evasion, and shooting against enemies that range from tiny to entire oil platforms.

Mecha and hacking sections give you plenty more to enjoy.

The whole game is quite a ride, and well worth your time. If you enjoy the title, then NieR: Automata Android action is right up your street.

Not really into emulation, but still interested in seeing what mad schemes Yoko Taro is up to? Well, you’re in luck because there’s another project in the works. Check out out news piece on 404 GAME RESET.
