Nintendo has just rolled out a new gaming app called Hello, Mario!. Announced earlier this month, it’s now officially available to download on Android, iOS, and Switch. But the catch here is that it’s only available in Japan. At least for now.
Not the usual Mario drama
Unlike Nintendo’s past games like Mario Kart Tour or Super Mario Run, Hello, Mario! isn’t about high scores or racing. It’s a playful app designed for parents and kids to use together.
The moment you launch the app, Mario’s face appears. Tapping and stretching his 3D head is similar to messing around with the Super Mario 64 start menu in the N64 days.
Nintendo Hello, Mario! functions as a kind of soundboard. There are options to pull out new interactive objects. You can poke or drag his face, and get rewarded with his classic vocal reactions.
The game is silly, simple, and built to encourage kids to experiment. On that note, watch a couple of videos that Nintendo dropped for Hello, Mario! after its launch.
Nintendo says Hello, It’s Me, Mario!
The game is actually the first part of Nintendo’s new My Mario product line. It aims to bridge the gap between kids just discovering games and the parents introducing them to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Alongside the app, Nintendo has released two wooden block sets and a Hello, Mario! board book. While the app is exclusive to Japan for now, Nintendo will launch the My Mario products outside of Japan at the beginning of 2026.
There’s no set timeline yet for when the app itself will make it to other regions. In case you’re in Japan, you can check it out on the Google Play Store.
