Old School RuneScape has dropped the final chapter of Varlamore today, called Varlamore: The Final Dawn. It’s the culmination of a long-running story, where you’ll face the Doom of Mokhaiotl and uncover some dark truths.

The enemies brutal and the challenges deeper

The Final Dawn is a Master-level quest that closes out the Varlamore trilogy in Old School RuneScape. You can start it if you’ve completed The Heart of Darkness and Perilous Moons, and hit level 66 Thieving, 52 Fletching, and 52 Runecraft. Also, a Combat Level of 85 is strongly recommended before jumping in.

The quest takes place in Varlamore, where you join forces with the Queen to rescue Itzla. Together, you take down the Doom of Mokhaiotl, a monster also known by the Old Ones as Osto-Ayak. What follows is a descent into the Ruins of Mokhaiotl, a new PvM experience with no checkpoints and no breaks.

Unlike typical boss fights, this is Old School RuneScape’s first Delve boss. It’s an enrage-style, solo endgame challenge that grows harder the further you go. Each victory pushes the Doom further into its burrow, escalating difficulty.

Every floor is a one-shot deal. If you die, you lose all your loot. If you back out, you return to floor one. The first few floors compare to the Corrupted Gauntlet, but the later ones demand an Infernal Cape.

New locations open up across Varlamore as part of the expansion

The Auburnal Valley offers an autumn setting where you can sharpen your Fletching skills. In the harsher Custodia Pass, expect a Slayer dungeon on the edge of the Kebos Lowlands. And in the tropical Tlati Rainforest, home of the Talkasti people, you’ll encounter the Gemstone Crab, a new PvM boss.
