Bandai Namco has announced the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile. It’s an irony that the legendary icon is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. This version of the game launched more than a decade ago.
When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?
The official date of the PAC-MAN Mobile shutdown is May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have already been discontinued as of April 1st. If you’re one of the people who still play it, you can keep doing that until May 30th.
Many players have expressed their disappointment that Bandai Namco is shutting it down completely instead of making it offline. Players would be cool with that, and it’d still make them some money.
This version of PAC-MAN, previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, brought more than just the classic arcade vibes. Along with the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it has Story Mode which has tons of original mazes to get through.
There’s also an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events where you could score exclusive skins. And the Tournament Mode has weekly maze challenges and three difficulty levels. The game also has a bunch of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick and more.
The Reason
The game had been a bit of a mess since a couple of years. Bugs and issues have been piling up over the years, and it’s probably a big part of why they’re shutting it down.
I remember the hype in the initial years of its launch on Android when people were grinding for high scores and trying to climb the leaderboards. It was pretty fun back then.
If you want to play PAC-MAN Mobile for one last time before its shutdown, get it from the Google Play Store.
