Third Closed Beta Test For Persona 5: The Phantom X Dropping Soon

Persona 5: The Phantom X

Black Wings Game Studio just announced the third closed beta test for Persona 5: The Phantom X. Called the ‘Heart Stealing Test’, it’s set to run from January 16 to January 31 but only in China. If you fancy giving it a try on your Android device, you can register on this page until January 12.

Although it’s initially for China, there’s talk about releasing it outside the region, possibly limited to Japan at first. It’s the first mobile launch in the Persona 5 IP series developed by Atlus and Perfect World Games. It was announced as a title exclusively for the Chinese gaming market, where you’ll be donning the role of a new Phantom Thief.

What A Wonder!

Unlike Persona 5, Joker isn’t the protagonist in Persona 5: The Phantom X. Instead, you’ll be leading the Phantom Thieves as Wonder this time, exploring everyday school life and the Metaverse. You’ll also have a new mascot, an owl-like creature named Luffy. Together with Motoha Arai, a second-year Kokatsu Academy student, you’ll be facing off against Shadows in the Metaverse.

With neighbourhoods like Shibuya and Shinjuku, Persona 5: The Phantom X features Tokyo’s street scene. The gameplay includes exploration, cultivation, puzzle-solving, and combat. You can attend classes, work part-time, play sports and interact with others to make the most of your Tokyo urban life. Catch a glimpse of the game below!

What Else Do You Know?

From the previous beta tests, we found out that the title will have a turn-based combat with a few new features. For example, the One More mechanic is a specific attack that you can’t choose, unlike P5. A new Weakness Meter has been introduced which requires triggering weaknesses to achieve a knockdown.

While gacha wasn’t active in the closed beta, the characters have gacha-like animations. Could this mean gacha might wiggle its way into Persona 5: The Phantom X in the future? Maybe we’ll find out soon! Meanwhile, check our latest scoop on Fantasy Tales: Sword and Magic, An Upcoming AdventureQuest 3D-Like MMORPG.
