Pikmin Bloom is gearing up for a colourful celebration this October with a special event called Day of the Dead. Also known as Día de Muertos, it’s bringing the Mexican holiday’s vibrant spirit into the game.
Día de Muertos is a Mexican festival that takes place on November 1st and 2nd. During those days, families honour loved ones with ofrendas, flowers, photos, food, parades, music, and calavera designs.
Pikmin Bloom, however, is starting the Day of the Dead celebrations early. The event runs from October 1st to October 31st, 2025. So, let’s give you the full details of what’s in store during the event.
New Pikmin, of course!
The event introduces the Calavera Decor Pikmin. You can obtain them by completing Event Challenge missions. Clearing them also rewards you with different items at random, including Flickering Candles. These are seedlings that grow into Calavera Decor Pikmin, flower petals, or other bonuses.
Each time the Big Flower at the centre of the stage blooms, it guarantees a Gold Seedling in addition to the random rewards. Any seedlings obtained this way can grow into one of seven different Calavera Decor Pikmin types.
And just like any other Pikmin Bloom event, mushroom battles play a big role in the Day of the Dead event. You’ll come across Colorful Mushrooms, which drop Mystery Boxes containing items like Flickering Candles.
Calavera Decor Pikmin are the most effective against the mushrooms, so it’s worth sending them into battle. On weekends, the Giant Colorful Mushrooms will arrive. They bring rarer Mystery Boxes and allow the use of the Mushroom Battle Bullhorn up to three times a day.
