Planet of Lana, the off-earth odyssey by Wishfully Studio, is out on Android. It’s a side-scrolling sci-fi adventure that first released in 2023 on PC under Thunderful Publishing. The game is now live on mobile, with Playdigious publishing this version.
Inspired by cinematic platformers like Inside
The story follows a young girl named Lana whose ordinary life collapses when her sister is taken. It forces her into a rescue mission across a secluded planet with a faceless army of machines.
Lana is never alone in her effort, as she is accompanied throughout by Mui. It’s a small, cat-like animal companion whose behaviour and abilities play an important role in both the puzzles and the journey adventure.
Gameplay in Planet of Lana focuses on movement, observation, and cooperation rather than combat. Lana can swim, explore varied terrain, and issue commands to Mui. Mui’s smaller size and agility allow it to reach areas that Lana can’t.
Working together, the two open paths, manipulate mechanisms, and solve intricate environmental puzzles. Mui can also hypnotise certain hostile creatures, temporarily taming them to bypass otherwise dangerous situations.
The Planet of Lana might not be safe, but it sure is beautiful
Landscapes shift from forests to strange alien environments full of dangerous creatures and unsettling machinery. The game’s visuals are rendered in a hand-painted visual style that was inspired by Studio Ghibli. Take a look at the game below, and you’ll see it for yourself!
On Android, Planet of Lana supports Google Play Games achievements. Cloud Save functionality allows progress to be shared between Android devices. And if you prefer physical inputs, you can use MFi controllers.
You can grab Planet of Lana on mobile from the Google Play Store. There’s a 10% discount available until December 16th on its otherwise $7.99 price.
