Playing OnLive games that are NOT optimized for touch screen controls using DroidMote

In our previous article last week about being able to use DroidMote to play OnLive games on your Android tablet while using your Android phone as a game controller, we mentioned that we were not sure if it would work for games that are not optimized yet with touch screen controls. Well thanks to one of our readers, we now know it does and you can see it in action after the break.

We were wondering if DroidMote, which is proving to be a rather amazing app set for gaming on Android devices, would work with games on OnLive that are not optimized with touch screen controls. While games that come with touch screen controls work great with DroidMote and using your Android phone as a game pad, we weren’t sure it would work with mapping buttons for the games that still require a physical controller.

Using the patched version of the OnLive APK until the developers release the fix, you can tune your DroidMote app and can play non-optimized OnLive games using your phone as a controller. The set up is pretty much the same as previous examples and in the video above you will see one of our readers playing Batman Arkham City on an Asus Transformer tablet while using his Android phone as a game controller. Pretty bad ass if you ask me.

Just remember, you need to install the server on the device you want to control and the client app of DroidMote onto the device you want to do the controlling with. The device that the server is to be installed on needs to be rooted although the client device does not. If you need the patched APK file for the OnLive app, you can download it here. If you need help you can hit up the official DroidMote support forums over on XDA.

Thanks to Gennaro Grasso for sharing this with us! Great job!
