Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is dropping a massive expansion soon, the Wisdom of Sea and Sky. Launching on July 30th, 2025, the new expansion brings the legendary duo Lugia and Ho-Oh to mobile. They’re back as EX cards.
What’s in store?
The focus is on the Johto region. Lugia and Ho-Oh are leading are joined by some classic faces like Eeveelutions, Baby Pokémon, and even familiar Trainer cards like Lyra and Silver.
The new set is also changing how you play. For the first time in the game, there will be Pokémon whose attacks don’t need Energy at all. That opens up a lot of interesting deck-building strategies, especially if you like to go fast or play around traditional Energy curves.

The expansion also brings some new things, like the Energy Switch, Rescue Scarf, and the new Lyra and Silver Supporter cards. Meanwhile, the Lugia EX and Ho-Oh EX set seems to be encouraging decks that juggle multiple types of Energy.
The trade system in Pokémon TCG Pocket is getting major updates
From July 30th, 2025 at 06:00 UTC, you can use a wishlist system to show which cards you’re hunting for. You can mark up to 20 cards on your list and highlight three on your profile.
The trade currency is also changing. Trade tokens are being phased out, so you won’t be using them to make trades anymore. Instead, trades for rarer cards, like those rated ♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦, or ★, will require a new material called shinedust.
You can earn shinedust through achievements, in-game missions, or by pulling duplicate cards. Any trade tokens you still have can be traded in for pack hourglasses or shinedust, with up to 60 pack hourglasses available.
There will be a temporary freeze on trading between 25 July at 06:00 UTC and 30 July at 05:59 UTC while these updates are put into place. Once it’s back up, everything from the wishlist system to the shinedust trades will be live.
Grab the game from the Google Play Store and get ready to welcome the legends.
