Red Dead Redemption Mobile Edition is finally out. The title brings the full game to mobile, including the standalone expansion pack, Undead Nightmare and all the bonus material that came with the Game of the Year Edition.
Time for Red Dead Redemption
John Marston is a man caught between federal agents and the remnants of a past he would rather leave behind. His family’s safety is used as leverage by the authorities trying to reshape a fading country.
All of that forces him to chase down the surviving members of his former gang. The route takes you through wide American West plains, across dusty trails, and into Mexico in the year 1911.
There’s a long list of activities tucked into the game’s open world. Clearing an abandoned mine full of gang members, hunting elk in the high plains or rounding up wild horses. There’s also sitting at a saloon table for a round of poker, taking a bounty poster off a sheriff’s wall, or lining up a duel on a dusty street.
The wardrobe also reflects classic Western cinema, with the game offering unlockable outfits. Wildlife in Red Dead Redemption varies from hawks and vultures wheeling above to bears and cougars stalking the ground below.
Dead Eye remains an important feature in the game. It lets you slow time, mark targets, and unleash a burst of precision shots. It’s what gave the original game its signature rhythm. And it’s also a major feature in this mobile edition.

What happens in Undead Nightmare?
It sends Marston down a different path. He deals with an outbreak that turns neighbours, bandits, and even wildlife into threats. A stormy night leaves his wife and son infected, and the hunt for a cure takes him through new missions full of zombies and the chance to ride the Four Horses of the Apocalypse.
You have two ways to try out the 2010 classic on mobile. The first is via Netflix, for which you need a Netflix subscription. The other is a standalone version by Rockstar Games, which costs (a whopping) $39.99. This is probably one of those games for which you’d end up appreciating Netflix publishing it on mobile.
