Aniplex has released Resident Evil Survival Unit worldwide, their mobile strategy title created in partnership with JOYCITY. The game is live across 151 countries and regions, with more locations planned to join the rollout later.
Capcom’s Resident Evil in a different format
A real-time tactical game, Resident Evil Survival Unit deals with the collapse of a city overrun by an unidentified infection. You organise a small group of stranded survivors and establish a base inside an abandoned mansion.
You and the group attempt to stabilise the surroundings by gathering resources and reinforcing the defenses. Characters from the original series, including Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Jill Valentine, are part of the cast.
The game mixes single-player missions, puzzle-style survival stages, and larger co-op options that allow you to coordinate with alliances. Depending on who you meet on the map, encounters can turn into either tense negotiations or direct confrontations.
Artist Yoshitaka Amano joins the project as a guest designer in Resident Evil Survival Unit
His contribution is a creature known as Mortem. It represents an unseen form of dread and is intended to embody the kind of anxiety that defines Resident Evil’s atmosphere.
To mark today’s release, Aniplex also published a new trailer highlighting the early stages of the outbreak and the frantic conditions you must operate in.
It shows a city collapsing in real time, broken up by moments where survivors attempt to regroup, secure territory, and fend off waves of mutated threats. Take a look at it here!
