Sonic Rumble hasn’t even launched globally yet but it has already launched a crossover featuring the most popular SEGA stars. SEGA is calling it Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars. It’s live from now until May 7th, just before the worldwide launch on May 8th.
Sonic Rumble is currently in soft launch and is available in 40+ countries. It had pre-launch 1 in Summer 2024 during which it launched in regions like the Philippines, the Scandinavian countries and Colombia. During pre-launch 2, it launched in Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa and more regions.
What’s in Store?
If you’re in one of the places where the game soft-launched last year, you can dive into the Sonic Rumble SEGA Stars crossover. First off, the Altered Beast crew is back, with the Werewolf transformation up for grabs totally free.
Love the nostalgic beast modes? You can snag the Werebear and Weredragon now, though it depends on how you plan to pay. Weredragon is tied to the Premium Pass, and Werebear might be purchasable with regular rings.
Then there’s some Fantasy Zone flair with Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa joining the lineup. Opa-Opa is part of the Premium Pass too. While Upa-Upa is available through fragments you can buy with standard rings, each one costing 700.
Also, AiAi and MeeMee from Super Monkey Ball have rolled into the Sonic Rumble SEGA Stars crossover. If you want AiAi specifically, you’ll need to cough up 729 Red Star Rings. On that note, catch a glimpse of the crossover event below.
Earn Exclusive Goodies During the Sonic Rumble SEGA Stars Crossover
You can earn extra goodies by collecting SEGA logos during matches. I know the event being live before the actual global release seems strange. But SEGA has already mentioned that most of these pre-release rewards will make a return later.
It’s quite exciting to see the very first crossover of the game diving deep into SEGA’s past and present catalogue. Monkeys, sentient arcade ships and buff were-things all bumping into Sonic and friends is what makes Sonic Rumble look promising.
Get the game from the Google Play Store or check it out once it drops on May 8th in your region.
