Supercell has announced the shutdown of Squad Busters, its May 2024 global release. Coming from a studio known for long-term successes like Clash Royale and Brawl Stars, that’s a bit shocking. When the game launched, it was met with huge enthusiasm, attracting millions of players.

But unfortunately, that didn’t remain constant. Unlike Supercell’s earlier approach of years-long beta periods, they decided to experiment with a faster, more global release cycle for this one. However, by early 2025, the team witnessed the game hadn’t grown into the outcomes they envisioned.

In an effort to turn things around, Supercell introduced Heroes, one of the boldest live updates the company had ever attempted. But even that major overhaul couldn’t fix the game’s issues. And hence came today’s announcement.

So, when is the Squad Busters shutdown?

The studio confirmed that active development will officially stop after one final update in December 2025. The game will remain playable for a while before shutting down sometime in 2026, not before mid-year.

In-app purchases have been disabled at 11:00 AM UTC on October 30th. Players who made purchases during 2025 can request to transfer their value to another Supercell title. You can move your purchases to Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, Clash of Clans, Hay Day, or Boom Beach.

The transfer process begins on November 10th through Player Support and will remain open until the end of 2025. Meanwhile, a Q&A is planned for November 13th, where the devs will answer questions about the decision and the game’s development journey.

To thank the community, Supercell is offering free bundles across its other games

It’s happening through the Supercell Store with rewards based on total Squad Busters playtime. Squad-themed cosmetics that were previously exclusive will return for a final time, allowing players to carry a piece of the game into Supercell’s other worlds. The rewards will be available from November 10th through the end of 2025.
