Square Enix shifting focus from Triple-A titles to more mobile games

Interesting news today coming from Square Enix who happen to be undergoing some internal ‘changes’ as one would call them. Amidst the changes to staffing and whatnot, one of the big changes happens to be the companies focus which will be moving from Triple-A titles for other platforms and they will be instead focusing a lot more on mobile gaming titles.

A lot of the company’s different offices will be undergoing changes and an example of this is Square Enix’s Montreal location which will be shifting their focus strictly to mobile games. In fact their games will mostly be geared towards tablets more than smartphones. Aside from that there have been a lot of leadership changes and shuffling within the company.

What does this mean for us? Well it could mean faster releases onto Android but also actual games, new ones at that, specifically designed for tablet gamers. We’ve already started to see this shift with all the Final Fantasy ports heading out way and now the upcoming Dues Ex: The Fall game on the horizon.
