See Super Meat Boy Running in Silky-Smooth 60 FPS On Skyline Emulator

There’s a lot of talk about what is an acceptable framerate for gaming. You might be perfectly happy with rolling on at 30fps, you might die a little inside when anything is averaging less than 60. It varies from person to person.

Whichever side of the spectrum you sit on, we can all agree that some games do need to run fast. One of these is the breakneck, super-hard, squishy-sounding platformer Super Meat Boy. If you’re dropping frames on any of its levels, you’re probably getting ground into meat paste.

Luckily, Skyline Emulator can handle it. A video shared to the Skyline Reddit shows the game hitting a cool 60fps on a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Meat For Everyone

Skyline Emulator is an open-source Nintendo Switch emulator for ARMv8 Android devices. The video creator points out the reason for its use in this case. While an Android port of Super Meat Boy exists on the Play store, its function is restricted to a certain SOC, meaning a lot of users will miss out.

Skyline opens the experience up to far more Android gamers, and doesn’t lose out on performance. You can pick up Skyline via the developers’ official GitHub, or via their website. Don’t trust apps on the Play store that claim to be Skyline, they have had issues with imitators in the past.

Blink And You’ll Miss It

Originally released in 2010, Super Meat boy is a platformer that does not mess around. It is fast, frantic, and extremely hard. You take control of the sentient meat golem, Meat Boy, whose girlfriend Bandage Girl has been stolen away by the evil Dr Fetus.

You run, wall-jump, and die repeatedly across 7 different worlds, with pixel-perfect leaps being the difference between victory and the business end of a circular saw. A few extra frames make a big difference.
