The Macabre Journey is a new indie release on Android exclusively. Developed and published under the banner Bio990, it’s a 3D gothic adventure that draws from Hollywood director Tim Burton’s movie styles. It has that same eerie atmosphere that pairs gothic, dreamlike with dark but poetic visuals.

The Macabre Journey follows Victor’s journey

Victor is a young man caught between reality and nightmare. His story begins after he wakes up in a silent night to find his beloved Eleanor mysteriously gone. Victor finds himself in a surreal search for answers that blurs the line between the external world and his own fractured inner state.

You guide Victor through a series of locations that steadily escalate in unease. You move from the quiet rooms of a silent house to fog-shrouded cemeteries, dense woods, and the forgotten halls of an ancient castle.

Each environment lets you explore and observe extensively. They hide clues, puzzles, and secrets that push the journey forward. Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding Eleanor’s disappearance is interwoven with encounters against shadow creatures, ghosts, and unsettling illusions.

The Macabre Journey is full of environmental puzzles that let you carefully study your surroundings. Along the way, Victor can find special items and abilities that help him overcome obstacles and purify the darkness standing in his way.

You meet few characters that help you in this dark fable of love and loneliness

One recurring presence throughout the adventure is Mortimer. He’s an enigmatic gravedigger who appears at key moments to offer guidance. His words are deliberately cryptic, raising questions about whether he’s truly helping or it’s just an illusion within the nightmare.

The Macabre Journey centres on the fear of self-reflection. It places Victor’s fate directly in the player’s hands, challenging them to confront the demons lurking in cemeteries and castles and those hidden within the protagonist himself. Check out the game on the Google Play Store.
