The original DOOM arrives onto Android to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary

Recently the old-school FPS game DOOM hit its 20th anniversary and to celebrate an mobile version of the original DOOM game has been released onto Google Play. Of course we’ve had DOOM ports available on there for awhile but this happens to be the full original experience ported over for mobile gaming.

While this is the original DOOM game, apparently if you own licensed DOOM games outside of this original one, you can use it with the app as well. This is done using the following steps:

1. Backup doom.wad file from Android/data/com.eltechs.originaldoom/ directory
2. Remove doom.wad file from Android/data/com.eltechs.originaldoom/ directory
3. Copy all files with wad extension (e.g. doom.wad, doom2.wad, etc.) from licensed Doom to Android/data/com.eltechs.originaldoom/ directory

This means you should be able to play any of the DOOM games and expansion through this application. If you don’t own any of them, you can just settle for playing the original game after downloading this from Google Play. Doing so will cost you nothing expect all the time you’ll lose playing the original DOOM on your Android device.

The developers behind this release are also looking into porting other old school games to Android as well so we will be keeping an eye on them for future releases.
