Grizzly Games’ popular RTS game Thronefall is now out on Android. It’s a minimalist game about building and defending your little kingdom. It already landed on iOS in early May, and Doghowl Games is the publisher on mobile.
Thronefall launched on PC in early access in August 2023 and later launched its full version in October 2024. The game lets you try it before you buy. And if you like it, you can buy the full version for $9.99.
What do you do in Thronefall?
It’s a bit like They Are Billions. You start your day by building up your little kingdom. You place mills, mines, homes, and defensive structures like towers and walls. Once you’re done, you hit the switch to summon nightfall.
Each night ends with the game restoring any destroyed buildings and rewarding you with gold. It depends on how much of your infrastructure survived.
The monarch, your player character, is in the middle of the action. You can choose to let your towers and crossbowmen handle the onslaught. Alternatively, you saddle up and ride headfirst into battle with your bow or spear. Each weapon has its own set of special abilities in Thronefall.
Meanwhile, there are different perks. If you prefer to play it like a pure tower defense game, there’s a perk for that. Choose commander mode, and your hero won’t deal much damage, keeping the focus on troops and towers. On the other hand, if you like the hack-and-slash side, you can boost the monarch’s damage and take matters into your own hands.

Will You Try It?
The biggest strength of Thronefall is flexibility. The game brings a back to basics strategy genre to mobile. If you’re interested in trying it out, you can grab it for free on the Google Play Store. You can buy the full game as a single in-app purchase.
