Ultimate Chicken Horse is now out on mobile. Originally released in 2016 by Clever Endeavour Games, the bizarre party platformer has been brought to mobile by Noodlecake. So, you can finally dive into the crazy game that has people yelling and laughing at their own trap-induced failures.
In Ultimate Chicken Horse, Friends Don’t Let Friends Win!
It’s a game where you and up to three friends are racing to the finish line. But the fun part is how you do it. You can choose among some cartoonish animals like a chicken, a horse, a sheep, or a raccoon. You also actively design the level as you go.
The hilarious experience is between the jumps. Every round begins with players dropping obstacles or platforms into the map. Then everyone takes a shot at finishing the level. If you make it but your friends don’t, you get the points. But if everyone finishes or nobody does, no one scores.
The game has 17 varied levels. You’ll get to explore new hazards, interact with strange moving parts, and upload your own levels or download others. The level editor is robust, with multiple traps and objects available.
There’s also Challenge Mode, which allows solo play. But remember that unlocking characters and levels still requires multiplayer sessions, especially in Party Mode.
How Did the Game Evolve?
The game was born from a game jam that combined the themes Modular, Phrase, and L’ultime _ (The Ultimate _). The early idea was something like Scribblenauts, where letters turned into platforms.
But as the Clever Endeavour team played around with mechanics, they leaned more into platforming. They eventually took cues from Super Meat Boy for its controls.
Now that Ultimate Chicken Horse has landed on mobile, you can have something fun to play during your spontaneous party sessions. The trick is always the same. Make it hard enough to mess up your friends, but not so hard that you screw yourself over in the process.
Ultimate Chicken Horse supports both online and local play. It also lets you use a shared controller mode. You can try it for free, and a one-time in-app purchase unlocks the full game. So, get it from the Google Play Store.
