World of Midgard MMORPG update: New pre-beta round begins, interface and effects previews

You may have been wondering where our “This week in World of Midgard” series went. After the launch of the first round of pre-beta testing started, we figured we would push this update by a few weeks so we can report on a lot more information at once. There is plenty to go over so get comfortable!

Starting off with the big news today, World of Midgard second pre-beta testing round will begin today at around 5pm EST. Invites for people who were fast enough to sign up a few months ago are starting to roll out and we got ours finally as well. Remember though that this is a pre-beta testing round, essentially an alpha but more developed, so there are still some raw elements being worked on. There may be a third pre-beta testing round but after that it will be an official closed beta. For each round more people will receive their invites so if you didn’t get one for this round, fear not, there are more to come. If you haven’t signed up to get into the closed beta, you can do so through the sign-up page.

Also, while most of the videos we have been posting about World of Midgard were on iOS devices, we now can see it running on a Galaxy 10.1 tablet, shown below in the video. It looks pretty damn sweet already. For those of you new to World of Midgard, this will be for both phones and tablets as well as PC and it will be cross-platform compatible.

The interface is still running the developer raw interface layout but the team at World of Midgard have been working on the actual interface for the game as well as the special effects. The special effects haven’t been seen in previous videos due to the preview videos of mobs and bosses being within the program they make the graphics with and not in-game. The effects are added after the creation of the mobs, bosses and other in-game elements.

The developers have been releasing videos over the past week or so showing previews for various effects and the layout for the interface. Another feature that was shown off for the first time was a PvP arena. As to whether there will be PvP outside of the arena(s) remains to be seen. You can check out all the previews in the videos below, enjoy! Expect some in-game footage coming from us in the very near future.
