REDMAGIC 10s Pro Review – A Worthy Upgrade?

We cover a lot of REDMAGIC products here on Droid Gamers. In fact we only just reviewed the 10 Air last week.

These phones are generally made with gamers in mind, with us describing the Air as a product that’s “well thought-out – and it’s clear that Nubia is eager to improve on each iteration and isn’t content with just coasting on their rep for powerful gaming phones.”

So here comes the 10s Pro, promising a significant upgrade from its 10 Pro model – released less than a year ago. So what does this new iteration offer that its (still fairly new) predecessor can’t? Let’s dive in.

First Impressions

Out of the box, the 10s Pro is slightly slicker than the 10 Pro. There’s a stylish strip of graphite like material bordering it, and a glass back where you can see the innards.

Overall this feels like a phone that is keeping things simple though. The buttons for activating the game mode are subtle, with all the volume and power controls hidden away.

The Tech and The Features

What really impressed us about the 10s Pro (and generally all REDMAGIC products) is the sheer power that’s packed into it. Once you turn on the 6.85 inch screen everything you play or watch looks fantastic. The screen is most of the device, and when it looks this good we don’t really mind.

When it comes to the power under the hood, it’s a step up from the 10 Pro. But not a massive one. Much of it is the same, such as the screen size, dual speaker power, and 7050mAh battery with 80w GaN charger.

The hardware is where the upgrades have been made, with the CPU bolstered from 4.32 GHz to 1100 MHz and the GPU from 4.47 GHz to 1200 MHz.

Gaming Performance

So all this means, unsurprisingly, that the REDMAGIC 10s Pro is perfect for almost any game you can throw at it.

Even the most graphically intensive titles we played ran like a dream, and the phone itself didn’t overheat and barely made a noise while doing so.

The battery is also impressive considering what we played, and for how long. The 3.5mm jack means you can enjoy the unit’s impressive sound output on the go as well, without disturbing others.

Gaming Features?

Away from the performance, there are some additions made specifically for gaming. There are capacitive shoulder buttons, which worked well in our limited time with them.

But then there the Game Space software, which allows you swift access to a range of gaming plugins, peripherals, pictures, and features.

You can change the display, record gameplay, and much more besides. More impressively you can also record and monitor games for specific events, and there’s even an AI-powered function that comes up with bespoke control schemes for you to test out. These worked pretty well in our time with the device too, something we never thought would be the case.

The Overall Verdict

The REDMAGIC 10s Pro is a seriously impressive smartphone, especially when it comes to how it handles gaming. Its predecessor is almost as impressive though, meaning it’s hard to recommend you upgrade unless you have an older model.

If you do have an older model though, there’s no denying that this is one of the best options on the market if you’re a serious mobile gamer.

Impressive Re-iteration

A must have smartphone if you’re a gamer, although be aware it’s not a massive upgrade on what’s gone before.
