We haven’t heard a lot from developers JavaGround Inc who developed the cross-platform tactics game Uniwar for Android and the iPhone. Going under the name TBS Games on the Android market, they released a new game not too long ago called Dante: The Inferno which is a top-down Diablo II style game based around getting out of hell and saving souls.
Backflip Studios has been a major iOS developer for some time now with some extremely popular games. In fact one of them is already on the Android market called Paper Toss. This is just like Toss It! so if you’ve played one then you’ve played both although I believe they developed the game first. However due to the great response they have had, they will be porting over their other popular games!
What is it about retro games, whether truly retro or just styled to look like a retro game, that keeps us coming back for me? Is it the memories it brings back? Is it the simply game that lures us in unlike now where it keeps getting more complicated in one way or another? No idea but Hell Invades Mars, developed by Dan Wolfe, is a great looking retro-styled arcade game.
Well it seems as though Skies of Glory’s release has gone exceptionally well and without a hitch, almost. Android users who own an Eris or Hero have been experiencing issues with the game which features live multiplayer across platforms so you can compete against iPhone users in real time. Official word just came down from SGN via their twitter account about the issue.
It isn’t always major development groups that come out with unique games and, in fact, a lot of indie or solo game developers release some pretty great titles. Zoob, developed by Zoob Dev, is a 2D tank battle game that pits your against your enemy tanks who all have different behaviors and as you progress you gain new abilities to help you along the way. It’s a lot of fun!
Skyzone has developed a few games in the recent past for Android devices which are unique in concept. Their newest title, Furry Legends, extends their list to include a platformer style game reminiscent of Sonic the Hedgehog. In this game your Furry character rolls through stages, dodging obstacles, using various elements around him to complete each stage and collect gems.
Benu Digital has developed some pretty original games for Android devices already and their new title, Herobot, is yet another original release. Admittedly when first seeing this on the market, an image of Rock-em Sock-em Robots came to mind. Amazingly enough that wasn’t far from the truth in this action shooter game where you have to blast evil robots and save the female robot.
Camel Games, developer of some of the best physics games for Android devices, has just released another great game called Hyper Jump. As with all Camel Games, this is sure to be warmly welcomed by the Android gaming community. In Hyper Jump your mission is to collect coins and power ups while dodging monsters to get as high of a score as you can.
Not too long ago we here at Droid Gamers reviewed the game Time Chaos by OrangePixel. Time Chaos is a little retro side-scrolling game where you shoot the enemies and collect power-ups. What started as a small free game has turned into a much larger game with the update that was released today on the Android market.
