This is my first aritcle that’s not a game review, so bare with me while I find my feet. Recently I’ve been thinking about where gaming on android is headed. At the time of its injunction, mobile gaming has bunkered on lowest level of video game caste system. Regarded worthwhile only to pass the time while waiting on line, cell phone games have been casually dismissed by hard core gamers as time wasters. Not fit to fly under the banner of video games, cell phone games also felt the same discrimination from their mobile cousins, the Nintendo and Sony handhelds.
Yesterday we reported on a rather cool looking FPS game from Craneballs Studios called Overkill. Since we posted about it a lot of people had been wondering why it wasn’t compatible on their particular device(s) and were unable to play it. Here is an update regarding that.
Considering all the weirdness that seems to be following the Transformer Prime quad-core Android tablet release with things like delays and pre-orders being cancelled, it seems things could be getting back on track, at least over at Amazon as there is a new 64GB model up for pre-orders.
Barely 24 hours after posting that PopCap’s two hit games, Peggle and Plants vs Zombies, happen to be on their way to the Android Market they actually show up and are now available for download. Up until now both games had been exclusive to the Amazon App Store.
