“Ninjas hate fruit”. I think I missed that memo, but it definitely provides a great basis for an awesome game. Fruit Ninja, developed by Halfbrick, is a fruit chopping game that tests your agility and dexterity. Just be sure to only cut the fruit and don’t cut any bombs, or else…well..you blow up which means the fruit wins and you fail as a Ninja.
Just a few moments ago the nice UPS man came knocking on my door. Upon opening this box (I was slightly confused as I wasn’t expecting anything) I was shocked to see one of the Limited Edition R2D2 Droids sitting inside. After staring at it for about 10 minutes in awe and surprise I did what any normal Android fanatic would do, grabbed my camera and unboxed it!
Android gamers have a few options when it comes to controller peripherals which include the Game Gripper, Wiimote support app so you can use your Wiimote with your phone to play games and eventually Zeemote will support Android in the future (it got delayed for some reason so it doesn’t support Android right now). Soon we will also have the iControlPad.
Usually we would write about a little indie Android game developer who has made it big on the Android platform with their game. However this is a bit different as it actually pertains to a major developer, Rovio. Angry Birds is already a smash hit on the iPhone, ranked #1, and we knew it would be a success on Android. 3D has been all the rage lately when it comes to technology news. Everything from 3D movies in your home to 3D console gaming and everything in between. Lately over the last week it has even spread into the mobile world which is great considering 3D gaming on Android would be fantastic, especially when it is glasses-free mobile gaming.
International Mobile Gaming Awards, commonly known simply as IMGA is at it again! IMGA is currently accepting mobile applications to be tested, weighted and judge against the top games out there for mobile platforms. IMGA has been in the mobile gaming awards mix for 7 years in which they have aimed “to recognize and reward the best innovator”.
VDC (Verizon Developer Community) Conference just ended and we happen to attend it looking for any little tidbits of information that we could find. While not expecting anything groundbreaking at VDCC we did however dig up some juicy information regarding a few items. One of which was right in the opening session on the first day.
Recently we broke news about a job listing over at Sony Playstation for a Senior Server Engineer and had one of the requirements listed as “Experience in Mobile Development, Specifically Android a plus”. Well it seems that after we broke the story and word spread to numerous sites, Sony got wind and has changed the actual job listing!
Android gaming craziness starts first this in the morning and goes strong all day it seems lately. Two updates to talk about right away for two big games currently out right now. Angry Birds received a beta update today along with Fruit Ninja as well. Angry Birds was a bit bigger of an update while Fruit Ninja added another feature this morning.
Fruit Ninja by Halfbrick was released barely 24 hours ago along with OpenFeint. Fruit Ninja has now broken into the sacred land of the #1 paid game on the Android market…already. How is that for fast? The number 1 spot has been long held, like very long, by Robo Defense but now with OpenFeint and Fruit Ninja that crown has been passed to Halfbrick.
