Alright so as many of you may know, we experienced some technical difficulties the past starting Thursday of last week and it took roughly two days to fix everything and get back up and running. In that short period of time, many of you, like myself, were probably rocking back and forth in a corner dribbling on yourself not due to not getting your DroidGamers news fix. Well here is what happened.
For the developers who brought over the official Duke Nukem 3D port to Android, Machineworks Northwest has dropped another PC FPS game onto Android today and this time it comes in the form of Painkiller: Purgatory HD, a mobile addition to the Painkiller PC series which was voted best FPS in the early 2000’s by PC Games.
In the darkest and seediest corner of the internet lies a large number apps and games that you can acquire for free. Along with pirated Google Play apps, there are also a number of these games that will never see the light of day. Following a tip from a reader, I was led to one of the deepest recess of the web to find an .APK to the original Final Fantasy. Don’t bother searching Google Play, you won’t find it.
For those of you who like war strategy games or traffic control games of the Flight Control variety, you now have a new game that combines the two called Battle Lines from Reflective Layer. Battle Lines will feed that need to blow stuff up while making you work for it.
If you somehow missed the grand elephant that is the Angry Birds series, consider venturing out into public more often. Fortunately you can catch up with all the hub bub with Rovio’s newest release, Angry Birds Space. Apparently you won’t be alone.
It was only yesterday that we mentioned Digital Tales would be bringing their Battleloot Adventure turn-based strategy games to Android and now we get to report that the game has been launched and is now available on the Google Play Store.
Sega last week released eleven Sega Genesis console titles onto OnLive for people to enjoy, two games today and have even more planned for the future as well. While most OnLive users on Android won’t be able to play these using a touch screen, Xperia Play owners and gamers who have the Universal Remote gamepad will be able to enjoy these games.
The action-RPG title from MobileBits called Soulcraft THD has now dropped the Tegra exclusivity and is now available for non-Tegra based Android devices. Currently still in an open beta status, Soulcraft was originally released for Tegra-based Android devices for free.
Rovio, who really hasn’t done anything in terms of acquiring new talent by purchasing other studios aside from last year’s purchase of Kombo, has decided to change that trend and have gone ahead and acquired Futuremark Games Studio. If the name Futuremark sounds familiar, it should. Futuremark is the benchmarking company who develops Futuremark 3DMark benchmarking tools.
Yesterday we talked about a new game being added to the Humble Bundle for Android #2 called Snuggle Truck. We also mentioned that an ‘uncensored’ version of the game, called Smuggle Truck, would be making the trip to the Google Play Store as well.
